Noopept, a strong cognitive enhancer, was developed in Russia in the early 2000s for the treatment of alcohol induced brain damage. A mind-turning supplement, Noopept is a powerful substance which is able to cross the blood brain barrier. It works primarily by binding to glutamate receptors and exerting strong neuroprotective effects on the brain. Its high bio-availability also means it is fast acting and may have a cumulative effect.
While it is most well known as a brain supplement, Noopept also increases coordination and improves mood. Some research also indicates that this supplement may help to prevent oxidization damage to the brain. It also works to treat alcohol related brain damage (this was actually the original purpose for its development).

Noopept is prescribed in Russia and certain other eastern-European countries, though not in America.
Noopept is also readily crosse the blood-brain-barrier following oral administration in modest doses, though some people claim it has higher bioavailabilty sublingually and is ineffective orally.
Due to its incredible potency, the recommended dosage of Noopept is small, usually 10 to 20 mg taken as often as three times daily. Dosage should not exceed 40 mg in a 24-hour period. Since the body metabolizes Noopept rapidly, and it has a very short half-life in the human body, it is preferable to take multiple small doses versus one large dose, in order to properly benefit from Noopept.
